ASPEN, Colo. (AP)– A Colorado woman was kicked out of her affordable housing after officials discovered she was renting her apartment on Airbnb.
The Aspen Times reports the Aspen-Pitkin County Housing Authority terminated Katherine Peach’s lease for her one-bedroom unit after it learned she was violating the terms of her lease.
A letter to Peach from Truscott property manager Janine Guerrero says the authority discovered the infraction when three people came into the office Feb. 2 asking for the Airbnb.
Aspen-Pitkin County Housing Authority Deputy Director Cindy Christensen says Peach “explained she was sorry for renting her place out” and “made a bad decision doing so.”
Peach did not answer phone calls, an email or text message from The Aspen Times seeking comment.
